The streets of villages in East Lindsey should soon be sparkling – after a fleet of new dustcarts was approved for the borough.
Sixteen new vehicles will be bought by East Lindsey District Council at a total cost of £2.43 million.
The news will mean the end of the exisiting lease agreement the council has been operating for some time.
Representatives from the authority, which has its headquarters in Louth, say they are confident that this outright payment will work out cheaper for the tax payer in the long run.
The current agreement will be phased out over the coming months and the new carts will be out on the streets by Easter.
They will carry the latest in-cab technology and will use electric, rather than hydraulic, equipment to lift the bins and empty them into the back of the cart.
The decision was made at a recent meeting of East Lindsey District Council.
