PHOTOS: A-Level results day

Thursday 2pm - AMID scenes of mixed emotions, students across the Boston area received their A-Level and AS Level results today.

For most students it has been a day of celebration - with their grades confirming a place at university, or aiding their entry into the world of employment.

Boston Grammar School is celebrating the achievements of its A-Level students with a 98 per cent pass rate (grades A* - E).

The school said their students' hard work and commitment 'through a turbulent time for the school' have brought their due rewards - with 41 per cent of all their A-Level grades at A*, A or B.

Staff at Boston College are over the moon with their students' successes - with a 98 per cent pass rate, including a phenomenal 100 per cent pass rate in 13 of its 16 subjects.

With subjects such as Maths, Further Maths and Pure Maths going one step further with all three gaining over 50 per cent at the new A* and A grades. The most outstanding result was achieved in A-level Russian where 100 per cent of students achieved an A*.

Students at Boston High School achieved a 98 per cent pass rate, with 42 per cent of grades A*-B.

Acting headteacher Jackie Thornalley congratulated all of the students on their results.

"This is a true reflection of their hard work and commitment."

She also thanks staff, parents and carers for their support.

Giles School, in Old Leake, enjoyed 'the best results in the school's history', said deputy headteacher Ian Widdows.

He added: "Their success has been achieved by hard work and commitment from all students and staff in the school."

Among the high flyers were George Moore, 18, of Leverton, who was awarded two distinctions in media, a distinction in photography, and an A in A-level photography, and Hannah Boyes, 18, of Wrangle, who collected three distinctions in performing arts and two distinctions in sports science.

Results will be updated on our website as we get them.

See Wednesday's Standard for a full round up of the A-level results.
