Plea to keep shop aisles clear
Wednesday, 5pm - A WOMAN who works alongside people with physical disabilities in Boston is urging shop owners to keep their aisles clear in the Christmas rush.
Claire Sheldrake says customers would like to see all the goods on show but are often limited because displays are being placed in the aisles.
"I am asking if the retailers could give a thought when displaying their goods to those whose mobility is restricted or have pushchairs.
"Putting goods for sale in the aisles may be maximising the space but what good is that if the customers can't get to the goods?"
Mrs Sheldrake claims the problem includes pallets and boxes being left in the middle of aisles and wire cages being left in front of shelves.
She says bigger aisles are needed in some of Boston's shops.
She added: "Every year I have to wind my way around goods to get to the items I need and it must be impossible for those with less mobility, so please think of your customers and display goods so everybody can get to them."
