HRH The Princess Royal will be shown Boston Stump’s bold plans for the future in a visit next Wednesday.

Princess Anne, patron for St Botolph’s Church, will visit at about 2.20pm.

As well as checking up on the progress of the flood restoration work she will be talked through the landmark’s ambitious £2 million plans to become a cultural centre.

The plans, which will go to the Heritage Lottery Fund to decide whether church officials get the money, include the removal of pews and creation of space within the church to create an area for displays and information boards.

They also include turning the Blenkin Memorial Hall into a visitor, learning and development centre with a soft play area in the shape of the Stump.

Consultation on the plans will begin following Princess Anne’s visit.

For more on the plans see tomorrow’s (Wednesday’s) Boston Standard.
