Rise in number claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in Boston




The number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in Boston rose last month, according to figures released today (February 19) by the Office for National Statistics.

The borough’s claimant count now stands at 1,030, a rise of 80 on the previous month.

It is the first time the figure has been in four figures since August.

The proportion of people aged 16 to 64 claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in the borough now stands at 2.6 per cent - up 0.2 per cent on the previous month’s figure.

The regional average and national average both rise by 0.1 per cent to 2.8 per cent and 3.0 per cent respectively.
