A Rotary Club of Boston St Botolph is supporting the town’s In Bloom effort with a new planter to spruce up Strait Bargate shopping area.

The club sponsored the planter for this year’s In Bloom campaign and it has been filled with purple crocuses – the symbol for the Rotary End Polio Now Campaign.

The club were out in Boston last week to sell the crocuses – raising £600 for the cause. John Posey, chairman of the club’s International Committee, said: “This is a fantastic response from the people of Boston.”

Rotarians, working with the World Health Organisation and Bill Gates Foundation, have raised £650 million for the eradication of polio worldwide. It now remains in only three countries - Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan.
