A team of 120 people took part in a record-breaking attempt to blow up as many balloons as possible in 60 seconds in Boston.

They huffed and puffed but despite their best efforts they fell short of the 501 balloons needed to break the world record - managing 299 balloons.

Still, the event was a huge success, raising more than £500 for charity the Butterfly Hospice.

It was all part of Pescod Square Shopping Centre’s 10th birthday party celebrations which also saw dance routines performed and characters from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party entertaining shoppers.

Andy Pottle, Pescod Square’s centre manager, said: “Whilst we didn’t succeed in our attempt to break a world record, we were delighted with the turn out on the day and our substantial increase in footfall.”

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and contributed to make the day such a success.”
