Sign firm rallies to support charity after being inspired by Top Gear

The owner of a firm which makes graphics for businesses and vehicles has been given the chance to support injured servicemen and women.

Dale Sharman, of D Signs, on Main Ridge East, in Boston, has provided the designs for a Landrover freelander owned by Race2Recovery, in preparation for a special race.

Race2Recovery are a team of volunteers who are aiming to inspire injured and disabled people, by being the first team of predominantly injured servicemen to complete the Dakar Rally, a cross-country race, in South America, in January.

Dale said: “I first saw them on Top Gear last year and was so impressed with what they are trying to achieve, especially with their own injuries, so I had a look on the net to find out a bit more about them.”

He then sent them an email to see if he could help by providing transfers of their sponsors.

“They replied straight away, accepting my offer,” he said.

“Then they came over for a meeting with me where I was asked to wrap the Freelander that they had been racing in the BCCC (British Cross-Country Challenge) as a training ground for the Dakar Rally.”

After decorating the Freelander he was then asked if he could ‘wrap’ their QT Wildcats.

Dale could also be appearing on television when a documentary series about the team appears on EuroSport from Christmas Eve.

Crews from the channel visited D Signs to watch him at work on the team’s vehicles before they were collected.
