Singer Andrea's seeking support on road to fame
Thursday, 10am - A SINGER whose first album made it on to the shelves of HMV stores across the UK is hoping to build on its success by recording a second in her Boston studio – but needs the help of local musicians to do it.
Since moving to the town a year-and-a-half ago, Andrea Jenkyns has converted her home in High Street to include her own recording studio, making it an ideal venue to start work on a follow up to ILYIS.
But Miss Jenkyns, 34, still needs to recruit a backing band and a male vocalist.
The vocalist and singing teacher, who compares herself to artists such as Sarah Brightman and Enya, has performed in front of 8,000 people and the Prime Minister of Pakistan in Islamabad, had one of the most requested music videos for her song The Beach on an Asian television show, and has completed a tour of Asia.
The former Miss United Kingdom finalist has also performed at the Asian Mela Festival at Roundhay Park, Leeds, which attracted around 80,000 visitors.
"I want to call the backing band Protere, which means power in Italian," said Miss Jenkyns.
"I'm looking for a violinist, pianist, drummer, and for someone to play bass and guitar.
"The first album was eclectic but the second is more of a classical crossover. I need a male singer for a track called Out of Time, which needs someone with a nice soulful voice, but as I'm a singing teacher it doesn't matter if they aren't perfect because I can help them iron out any problems.
"I'm looking for people who are confident in performing."
Miss Jenkyns also hopes to go on a theatre tour of Lincolnshire after recording has finished.
