Special service for bereaved parents

Tuesday, 3.25pm - THOSE who have been devastated by the loss of their child before they have been born or within the first few weeks are being invited to a special remembrance service.

In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die during the first four weeks of life, more than 6,200 babies a year.

Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity's June awareness month aims to highlight the loss families endure and the support available to them and their families.

Boston and District Sands, the local branch of Sands, is holding a Babies Remembrance Service on Sunday, June 1 at 2pm at All Saints Church, Moulton, near Spalding.

The service will provide an opportunity for anyone touched in any way by the death of a baby during pregnancy, at or after birth to join with others and listen to poems, music and light a candle if they wish.

Refreshments will be provided after the service.
