Station set to launch into '¨FM broadcast

The station successfully applied for an FM licence recently and on August 22 listeners will be able to tune in to 107.0FM on their radios to listen to the team put on a seven-day-a-week schedule.

Previous tests have shown the signal to go out as far as Wrangle, Kirton, Fishtoft, Frampton, Leverton and Swineshead.

The plan is to broadcast a full-time set of programmes between 7am-11pm - with shows including the full spectrum of news, sport, traffic, weather and music from all eras – they’ve even recorded brand new jingles and other sounds.

An excited Dylan Taylor, a director at the station, said: “We want this to be a professionaljob and want it to be enjoyable and memorable.”

The station is also celebrating 10 years in action this month having begun in 2006, as Stump Radio and based in Blackfriars.

It’s also eight years since the current directors took over the running of the station, a time which has seen the station go from strength to strength - starting at the former Haven Gallery and now at 116 High Street.

The team of volunteers, currently numbering about 35, put a lot of time and effort into the station - even doing live shows from community events and Boston United home games on the online version.

The station has been on temporary FM licences for one month a year since 2006, with the exception of 2011.

It has seen numerous volunteers go on to work in radio elsewhere, including at the BBC

The station is always looking for local bands to perform and is looking at the option of having ‘take-overs’ by performers and charity organisations in the future.

They will also be looking for people to sponsor them, or to take out advertising with them to fund the station.
