Top-notch new teaching facilities are unveiled at Pilgrim Hospital

Friday, 12pm - NEW teaching facilities that ill 'significantly enhance' education have been unveiled at Boston's Pilgrim Hospital.

The 680,000 extension to the Medical Education Centre will provide extra teaching and meeting rooms for both undergraduate and postgraduate students based at the hospital.

It includes two seminar rooms, a lecture hall, computer room, common room and resource room, all equipped with audio-visual aids.

Dr Gurdip Samra, the Pilgrim's clinical education lead (Leicester University), said: "One of the reasons the Pilgrim needed this to come here is that they are the future doctors for the area."

He added: "It's a dramatic step up from what they had and should significantly enhance education at Pilgrim Hospital."

The facilities were officially opened by Professor Stewart Petersen, head of medical education at the University of Leicester.
