Tributes have been paid to the late borough councillor Paul Mould, who died suddenly at his home last week at the age of 79.

Coun Mould, who was also a local historian and governor at Boston Grammar School, represented the Staniland South ward for Boston Borough Council.

Following his sudden death, council colleagues have spoken of his dedication to Boston.

Boston Mayor Colin Brotherton said: “He was Boston born and bred and maintained his loyalty to the town, living and working here and representing his ward. He always had the greater interest of Boston and the borough at heart.

“He was a true Bostonian through and through. We will all miss him.”

Coun Mould, who had been on the council since 2011, attended Boston Grammar School and joined the Boston Guardian as a reporter in 1950.

He later joined the family baking business, and held a number of other roles before setting up PMP Publishing in the 1990s.

He was a published author and wrote books on the cinema and local history as well as contributing regular nostalgia columns to The Standard.

Editor Stephen Stray said: “I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paul.

“He had been a long-standing contributor to The Standard, most recently with his popular column looking at local history.

“His in-depth knowledge of the social history of the area will be irreplaceable. The thoughts of all at The Standard are with his family and friends.”

Mark Wearden, chair of governors at Boston Grammar School said: “He will be sadly missed for his knowledge of the school and his thoughtful contribution to debate.

“He was always mindful of the need to focus on the benefit of the students”
