Unemployed people called on to help create community garden
Volunteers in the Fenside Grow Community Blooms project
Unemployed people in an area of Boston are being urged to get involved in a project to create a community garden at their community centre.
The Fenside Grow and Community Blooms project is aiming to make the space at the Taverner Road cenrtre more sustainable, and eventually provide an income for the site.
There are currently eight people involved in the scheme, who have started on the garden, but four more are needed to secure full funding through TaylorITEX and the company which runs the centre.
Co-ordinator Caroline Wallis said: “One of the main objectives of the project is to give them the opportunity to gain the skills and experience that could lead to employment in the future.
“In return for their time, we can offer them training, careers advice, including employability workshops, and a great environment in which to meet new people and gain practical gardening and business skills.”
Anyone interested contact Fenside Community Centre, on 01205 352654 or TaylorITEX on 01205 360800.
