UPDATE: Teenage moped rider dies in village crash

UPDATE, 2.15pm: Police have confirmed that a moped rider from Boston has died as the result of a collision in Butterwick this morning.

A force spokesman said: “Sadly we can confirm that the rider of a moped, a 19-year-old man from Boston, was pronounced dead at the scene.”

10.30am: A moped rider was involved in a serious collision with a car in Butterwick this morning.

The incident took place near Butterwick Primary School and has caused the road to be closed off, with the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance called to attend to the rider.

A police spokesman said emergency services were called to the incident between a moped and a car on School Lane, Butterwick, at 9.47am this morning (Friday).

They said air ambulance was en route and the road was closed on the Butterwick side.

Lincs Road Policing Unit (@LincsRPU) have also tweeted: “RTC School Lane Butterwick, Please avoid this area for the next few hours #control”.
