VIDEO: Wealdstone Raider sends get well message to injured firefighter James Thorpe

James Thorpe, 28, had gone for a swim with his friends after arriving in the resort but is now recovering after he fell in the sea, damaging his neck and leaving him hospitalised.

Following an operation to replace his seventh vertebrae it is unclear whether James will be left paralysed from his injuries though he is reporting to have feeling in his legs and toes.

While out on the ‘Maga strip’ James’ friends came across the Raider and got him to record a special message for James.

In the video, the Wieldstone Raider, surrounded by James’ friends, says to camera: “Alright mate, just to prove you do have fans. If you don’t get walking again, we are going to have to come and deal with you!

“Do you want some? Get better soon mate, all the best!”

The Raider, real name Gordon David Hill, rose to fame on Youtube after a video was uploaded showing him jeering a heckling fan from an opposing team. His video gave rise to the catchphrases ‘You want some?’, ‘You’ve got no fans’, and ‘I’ll give it ya’.

Also in the latest video are Danny Mustill, Ashley Lawrance, Adam Pick, Ross Pick and Nick Baxter who were on James’ stag do

The video has had more than 2,600 views since it was published on Facebook.

Danny told the Standard: “We met Gordon the Wealdstone Raider while on James’ stag do he was doing PR for a bar and I had a good chat about what had happened with him and asked him to do a get well soon message for him and he was more than happy to do this for us.”

James and fiancée Michaela Watson’s wedding is planned for later this month.

A Crowdfunding website has been set up to help him in his recovery.

It was started by friend Simon Burch, who works alongside James in the fire service in King’s Lynn.

So far, more than 460 donations have helped to raise more then £10,900 of its £20,000 target.
