Discover Volunteering and Wrangle Youth Club held a multi-generational evening of talks memorabilia displays at the village club.

The evening saw Margaret Jessop, of Boston, showcasing memorabilia from 1930-1960 under the themes ‘wash day blues’, school days and fashions among others.

There was also a presentation from 17-year-old youth club member Darren Avison and his own military memorabilia collection.

More than 40 members of the community attended the event organised by Pete Read of Discover Volunteering.

Mr Read said: “Not only was the audience from across the age range but there was over 60 years between the two presenters. Darren is extremely enthusiastic and the audience warmed to his presentation. He got in to the spirit of the evening by dressing in his own military regalia.”

The evening finished with a presentation to youth club members who achieved an ASDAN Volunteering at an Event nationally-accredited qualification, for helping to plan, run and evaluate a community event.

Mr Read added: “We believe they are the first in the country to receive this award.”
