A woman from Freiston is one of the latest people to be charged with drink-driving as part of a summer crackdown by police.
Officers have launched Operation Blackwater and are encouraging people to text the workd ‘DRINK’ to 80800 along with the details of the vehicle and location of habitual drink-drivers.
Anyone aware of ‘imminent’ drink-driving is still advised to call 999.
A spokesman said: “Highly visible and well signed road checks will be in operation across the County. Checks will be carried out in early morning, evening and night time.”
A total of 22 people have been charged since the operation began, on June 1, and all of their names are listed on the police website for 24 hours.
Today Michaela Ireland, of Church Road, Freiston, is listed, having been arrested yesterday (Sunday) and charged with drink-driving.
What do you think? Should those charged with drink-driving offences be named by police? Does this act as a deterrent?
