A BOSTON couple have celebrated reaching a major marriage milestone.
Molly Lenton and Lancelot McFayden (Mac), of Eastwood Road, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on Thursday.
The couple met at RAF Coningsby in 1947 where Mac, a corporal, was stationed.
At a dance attended by service people and the community Mac asked Molly, 17, for a dance.
They danced and talked for hours and Molly said: “It was like we’d known each other for years.”
Two years later they were engaged.
Molly had been planning her 21st birthday celebrations but they turned into wedding preparations as Mac received notice he was to be posted overseas.
They married in the Boston Stump where Molly wore a white figured taffeta wedding dress.
The cake she made for her 21st birthday featured at the bottom of their three-tier wedding cake.
And what do the couple say about what makes a long and happy marriage?
Molly said: “If you talk through your daily problems then they don’t get too big to cope with.
“When we think back, all we got from our parents was that you were either suited or not but there’s more to relationships than that.”
