BOSTON Stump is to host the return of a Welsh choir next Saturday, May 21, which performed at the same venue two years ago.
Pontarddulais Male Choir was formed in 1960 under the late Noel Davis, who was the choir’s conductor until 2002.
It performed at the Stump in 2009 as part the church’s 700th anniversary celebrations.
Performing with them will be professional singer Abby Johnson.
Vicar of Boston the Rev Canon Robin Whitehead said: “We are looking forward to welcoming back to the church one of the finest choirs in the world.
“Their performance in 2009 during the churches 700th anniversary was one of the best ever heard in the church.
“In addition we have singer Abby Johnson performing so we are looking forward to a fantastic evening.”
The choir has won a record 14 first places at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales and two first places at the Llangollen Eisteddfod.
In 2004 it achieved a double when it won the male choir competitions at both Llangollen and the Newport National Eisteddfodd.
It has had 11 overseas tours to places including Canada, the USA and several European countries.
Abby Johnson has appeared in many West End stage shows and on television.
Her latest roles include working with the English National Opera Company and, recently, appearing in the Mikado at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln.
Show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets £15, available by calling 01472 398637 or 07887943125, or by visiting the Stump shop.
