HORACE Atkin, of Matthew Flinders Way, has died suddenly at Pilgrim Hospital.
He was 76.
Born in Carrington, he lived in this area his whole life.
A married man, he is survived by wife Frances, daughters Sally and Mandy, son David and grandchildren Laura, Craig, Katie, Daniel and Emily.
He completed National Service in the army at the age of 21, learning to drive during his service.
He worked for many years as a lorry driver for several local firms.
However, for the last 15 years before retirement at 65 he worked at Fogarty’s as a warehouseman and lorry driver.
He loved spending days fishing with his son, sons-in-law and grandsons and was a loyal supporter of Boston United.
He enjoyed working his allotment and looked forward to holidays abroad with his family, enjoying a trip to Turkey earlier this year.
His funeral has taken place and was followed by cremation. The service was officiated by Father Chris Wedge.
Chief family mourners were: Frances Atkin (wife), Sally Brown and Mandy Tebbs (daughters), David Atkin (son), Andrew Brown and Trevor Tebbs (sons-in-law), Vikki Atkin (daughter-in-law), Craig Tebbs and Daniel Tebbs (grandsons), Katie Brown (granddaughter), Edith Hewitt (sister) and Margaret Ward, John Ward, Richard Hewitt and Andrew Hewitt (nieces and nephews).
Unable to attend: Laura Brown (granddaughter).
