DORIS Joan Gedney (nee Wilkinson), of Bicker, has died at Pilgrim Hospital, following a short illness.
She was 85.
Born in Frithville, she moved to Bicker in 1936 and remained there for the rest of her life.
A widow, she leaves behind daughter Pauline, son David, brothers George and Walter and grandchildren.
Mrs Gedney attended Donington Grammar School and was a teacher at Bicker Primary School during the war. She married her late husband Bernard in 1945 and happily settled into life as a farmer’s wife. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and reading.
Her funeral took place at Bicker Parish Church and was followed by burial in Bicker Cemetery. The service was officiated by the Rev David de Verney.
