GRACE Mary Botterill (Mary) has died at Hunters Creek Care Home, Boston.
She was 83.
She was born in Canada, where her father, local man Jack Westland, had emigrated and was one of the original pioneers who opened up the Canadian outback.
A widow, she is survived by daughters Janet and Linda, grandchildren Peter, Claire, Jamie, Lauren and Katherine and great-grandson Alfie.
Mrs Botterill came to Lincolnshire with her family at the age of seven and lived in the area most of her life.
She trained as a nurse in London during the Second World War and met her husband Jim while he was recuperating from illness following war-time service in the Merchant Navy.
Mrs Botterill spent most of her working life as a theatre sister, both at the former Boston General Hospital and then Pilgrim Hospital.
She and her husband enjoyed many years together, living at Swinfields, which remained her home after she was widowed.
