Mrs Lilian May Dawson

LILIAN May Dawson, formerly of Bicker, has died at Tanglewood Cedar Falls Nursing Home, Spalding.

She was 95.

Born in Corby Glen, she had lived in this area for 70 years.

Mrs Dawson was a widow. She is survived by daughter Jennifer Sheldon, son Michael Dawson, grandchildren Rebecca Nicholson and Matthew Sheldon and great-grandchildren Katherine and Laura.

Mrs Dawson started work in service. Afterwards, while living at North End, Swineshead, she had a general store. Later, she worked in the office of the family business.

Her hobbies and interests included dressmaking, knitting, crochet and cooking. She also worked tirelessly to raise funds for St Swithun’s Church, Bicker.

She worshipped at Bicker Church for 45 years after moving back to the village to live following the death of her husband, John.

Her funeral was officiated by the Rev David de Verny and was followed by interment.

Chief family mourners were: Jennifer and David Sheldon (daughter and son-in-law), Michael and Sandra Dawson (son and daughter-in-law), Rebecca and Mark Nicholson (granddaughter and husband), Matthew Sheldon (grandson), William Dawson (nephew), Patricia and John Simpson, Anna and Keith Beever and Betty and Geoff Shaw (nieces and husbands), Frederick and Rosemary Story (nephew and niece) and Andrew Shaw (great-nephew).

Unable to attend: Brenda and Noel Moore (niece and husband), Katherine and Laura Nicholson (great-grandchildren).
