MARY Bridges, nee Grant, of Shaw Road, Boston, has died at Boston Pilgrim Hospital after a short illness.
She was 86.
Born in New York she had spent all her life in the area.
A divorced woman, she is survived by daughters Ingrid Brockelsby, Astrid Vamplew, Bev McFarland and Enid Blackamore and son Tony Vamplew.
During her working life Mrs Bridges ran a village shop and Post Office at Frithville. Later she worked at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital as a domestic assistant. She also worked as a carer at Norfolk Lodge retiring in 1994 at the age of 70.
In her free time she enjoyed bus trips, shopping and gardening and spending time with her family.
Her funeral service was held at Boston Crematorium and was conducted by the Rev Canon Robin Whitehead. This was followed by cremation.
Chief family mourners were: Ingrid and Dick Brocklesby, Bev and Tommy McFarland and Enid and Martin Blackamore (daughters and son-in-law), Tony and Gail Vamplew (son and daughter-in-law), Astrid Vamplew and Frank Fox (daughter and partner), Jayne Brocklesby, Susan Blakey. Rachel Smith, Michelle Cound, Laura and Kim Vamplew (granddaughters), Melissa and James Watts (granddaughter and husband), Thomas Vamplew and Mark Blackamore (grandsons), Liam Blackamore and Ayesha Barai (grandson and partner) Michael and Emma Vamplew (grandson and wife), Nikki and Louise (great-granddaughters), Lloyd and Tanya (great-grandson and partner), Jean Grant (sister-in-law), Graham, Robert and Gary Grant (nephews), Brian and Pam Welbourn (nephew and wife), Jane Grant and Sheila Kemp (nieces), Ellie Leadbetter (great niece) and Mr and Mrs W. Bridges (brother and sister-in-law).
Unable to attend: Richard and Sallianne (grandchildren).
