PAULINE Mary Davies, of Botley, Oxford, has died at the John Radcliffe Hospital following illness.
She was 79.
Born in Boston, she lived in the area for 52 years.
A widow, she is survived by sons Graeme, Christian and James, daughter Suzanne, sister Irene and brother John.
After leaving Boston High School, Mrs Davies joined the Co-operative Insurance Society, rising to chief clerk at the Boston office - the youngest in the company.
Following marriage, she moved to London and worked in the publishing and electronics industries.
She later returned to Boston and joined Handley’s builders as an accounts and payroll clerk.
Following her second marriage she worked for Humber Stores Contractors, a family-established hardware business.
After moving to Oxford, she worked with children at Cumnor Primary School.
She had a keen interest in literature, in particular biography and history.
She was a long-term participant in adult education both at Pilgrim College, Boston, and latterly at Rewley House, in Oxford.
She was a lover of music of all types and was a regular at Holywell Music Room concerts in Oxford.
Her funeral took place at The Chapel, Botley Cemetery, Oxford and was followed by interment. The service was officiated by the Rev Ann Day.
