A new £1.6 million Lincolnshire Co-op store is set to bring 14 jobs to the area if it gets the go ahead, according to the company.

Planning has been submitted for a new store and pharmacy on High Street, in Swineshead, on the site of the former Capel Lodge and part of a nearby nursery to the rear.

Lincolnshire Co-op store development manager Matthew Wilkinson said: “We have applied for planning permission to create a new food store and a fresh home for our Swineshead Pharmacy on land at High Street.

“If approved, the £1.6 million development will bring 14 new jobs to the area and create a space for our existing pharmacy to move into from its current building on High Street.

“Customers would enjoy more space and modern facilities inside the new pharmacy. We believe the new food store and car park will also bring benefits to the local community if our application is approved.”

He added: “Our Community Champions scheme helps store colleagues and shoppers support local good causes together.”

The new store would include an instore bakery and hot, along with a cash point and other services, as well as energy saving schemes such as LED lighting and a heat reclamation system.

According to a design and access statement submitted to Boston Borough Council a new acess road and car parking would be at the front with a service area to the rear of the store.
