THE new man to lead the county council is hoping to champion county farming during his tenure.

The 27th Chairman of Lincolnshire County Council, Coun Rober Palmer, was voted into position on Friday, May 18

Coun Palmer said: “I am very proud to have been elected as chairman and look forward to serving as an ambassador for Lincolnshire. My aim this year is to promote farming and the excellent food we all know and love.

“During my tour of duty, I would like to raise the profile of Lincolnshire and its agricultural background and let everyone know why we were voted Britain’s favourite food spot.”

Coun Palmer will also be raising money for the Endoscopy and Urology unit at Louth Hospital, Lincolnshire Rural Support Network and a memorial for the fallen of The 10th Regiment of Foot.

As chairman he will oversee meetings of the council and will act as ‘First Citizen of Lincolnshire’, playing a key role in enhancing the civic life of the county.

This will include civic engagements, formal ceremonies, award presentations and church services.
