A controversial plan for a nine-house development in Boston has been turned down following intense opposition from neighbours.

The borough council’s planning committee voted seven-two to refuse the application by Taylor Made Services to erect the two-storey houses on the Robin Hoods Walk site of 26 domestic garages which had been earmarked for demolition.

If approved, the scheme would also have resulted in the loss of a former bowls green which is now maintained as an attractive lawn.

The committee yesterday (Tuesday) went against the recommendation of the planning officer.
