Obituary: Margaret Audrey Stevenson

Margaret Audrey Stevenson, of Hunters Creek nursing home, Boston, has died peacefully at Pilgrim Hospital following a short illness.

She was 87.

Born in Gelding, Nottinghamshire, she had lived in the area for 35 years.

A widow, she is survived by sister Joan, nieces Maureen, Margaret, Kathryn, Patricia and Christine and nephew Kevin.

In her early working life, Mrs Stevenson trained in office work then as a nurse, becoming a deputy matron of a large nursing home.

She moved in with her husband Roy at Boston 35 years ago where they were energetic members of St Thomas’ Church.

She particuarly enjoyed the friendship of the Ladies Group and continued to support the church and friends during her last seven years in Hunters Creek nursing home. She found the residents and staff there to be very caring and friendly.

Her funeral took place at St Thomas’ Church, Boston, and was followed by cremation.

The service was officiated by the Rev Chris Wedge.

Chief family mourners were: Maureen and Ian Justice, Pat and Jim Robinson, (nieces and husbands) Margaret and Nigel Cross, and Christine and David Hodson (nieces and sons), Kathryn King (niece), Kevin and Anne Banks (nephew and wife) and the Langley family (nieces, nephews and spouses).

Unable to attend: Joan Banks (sister) and Tom Cross (niece’s husband).
