THIS vessel was left high and dry on the banks of the Haven.
The ship, with a cargo of 2,000 tons of rebar steel, went aground in the river, adjacent to Pilgrim Father’s Memorial, while entering the Port on Monday at 9.08pm.
That evening the Tug Bostonian was deployed, but because of the falling tide was unable to free the vessel.
The ship, which is registered in Madeira, lay safely overnight and was re-floated on Tuesday at 9.45am and berthed in the Dock Basin.
Port director Andy Lawrence said: “Investigations are taking place, but there appears to be no damage to the vessel, with no injuries sustained, no damage to the environment and no affect on any other traffic in the river.”
