The councillor who criticised The Standard’s Observer columnist and said he’ll be getting a ‘knock on the door’ has moved to clarify his remarks.
Coun Derek Richmond brought up his frustrations about the anonymous columnist with a reporter at a meeting this week and then elaborated further yesterday when contacted by this paper.
He believes the column is biased and makes inaccurate criticisms of the work of the council.
Since his views appeared online yesterday he has written to say: “I want to clarify my off-the-cuff remarks reported by the Boston Standard regarding the anonymous columnist Observer.
“By a ‘knock on the door’ I meant that even though Observer hides behind a pseudonym I know who he is, and may knock on his door so that he can have an adult face-to-face conversation with me in order that we can sensibly discuss some of the issues which concern him, I would welcome a meeting with Observer at any time as I do with any other member of the public.”
