May we through your paper say ‘thank you’ to the residents of Sidney Street?
On Thursday and Friday, June 27-28, the residents worked together with Boston Borough Council and Lincolnshire County Council to have their street gulley’s cleared and cleaned as well as the Street itself.
BBC and LCC has been trying to get these drains cleaned for some time now but due to 24 hr parking on both sides, this has proved to be difficult to arrange.
For a few weeks leading up to the clean, notices were placed through all homes, we knocked on doors, as well as placing notices in four different languages on car windscreens to ask for cars to be removed on a specific day.
LCC Highways and Boston Borough Council led by George Bernard arranged the timings to minimise disruption especially during the school run.
The project went very well and with the exception of a couple of cars, the streets were cleared as requested at the times specified.
Since the floods of December 5, 2013, it has never been more important to keep our drains clear and free from debris to allow excess water to be taken away via the drainage system.
Working together as a team with the residents of Sidney Street, their street was cleaned and all drains cleared with the exception of one which needs further intervention as there is a problem with the main pipe.
This will be rectified as soon as possible.
In the meantime thank you once again to the residents of Sidney Street for your co-operation.
It is amazing what we can achieve when the public, Boston Borough Council and Lincolnshire County Council (Highways ) work together to promote a better environment for us all.
