LETTER: Thanks for your votes

It would be fair to say that when I embarked on my canvassing for the Frampton and Holme by-election, I did so with a great deal of trepidation.

It would be fair to say that when I embarked on my canvassing for the Frampton and Holme by-election, I did so with a great deal of trepidation.

How would I be received? Had people time for a stranger on the doorstep? Were potential politicians welcome in these difficult times?

It was clear from the very first door that I was going to enjoy the task in hand, you were welcoming, interested, and kind. I have met people I would never have met, been made aware of issues I can now investigate and try to help with, but most of all it has made me feel very proud of the local area I have called home for 40 years now.

For sure we all have our problems and complaints but what I have come to realise is that people enjoy our area, are happy to be here, and just want what is best for the area and for themselves.

Thank you for making my time on the doorstep very enjoyable and rewarding. I trust I can represent you all to the best of my abilities.

Coun Stuart Ashton
