LOCALISED earthquakes have been ruled out by police after a bus shelter mysteriously collapsed.

The shelter in Westville Road, Frithville, was found in a heap on New Year’s Day, leaving police and parish councillors confounded as to what happened.

Clerk to Frithville Parish Council Barry Dawson said: “Whatever went into it must have been quite severely damaged. It’s unfortunate no-one reported it and the vehicle just drove away.”

A police spokesperson said it was most likely an unreported crash but no-one had so far come forward.
