‘LOVELY, beautiful, and passionate about English culture’ is how a Brothertoft man has described his beloved partner in tribute to her life.
Valentina Planciunene, 37, was on her way to work at 3.20am on February 15 when her moped crashed on Boardsides, Boston. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speaking to The Standard, Darien Long, of Kirton Drove, said his partner of three and a half years was ‘easy going’ and loved ‘the good life’.
“Valentina was a lovely, beautiful woman who loved going out to see castles and museums and anything to do with English history,” said Darien, 43.
“On the home side, she loved gardening, vegetable growing, and looking after our cat, parrots, fish, chickens, ducks and geese.
“She was originally from Belarus and always so eager to improve her English. Each time she heard a new word she would write it down.”
A service was held in Brothertoft Church on Sunday officiated by the Rev Rosemary Taylor. “This was a thanksgiving for her life and there were so many people at the church it was overflowing,” said Darien.
“I would like to thank my family for being there for me during a very difficult time and to all who attended the service.”
Last week Darien went to say goodbye to Valentina before her body was flown to Belarus, where the funeral will take place.
