Weight loss support sessions in Sleaford area go virtual amid lockdown

A weight loss organisation with groups in the Sleaford area has responded to the Covid-19 lockdown by taken its weekly meetings online.

Slimming World consultants are now offering support to their members via the Zoom video conferencing platform.

Samantha Wheatley, who runs groups in Ruskington and Pointon, has been holding virtual sessions for a couple of weeks now and is seeing numbers grow.

She said “The new virtual group via Zoom seems to be working really well offering a little bit of normal to my Slimming World members.

“Up to 25 people can log on to each virtual session and then chat about how the last week has gone, swap and share recipes for lovely slimming meals and get motivated to be stay on plan in the week ahead.

“By letting me have their weights the morning before the online group, we even get to crown a Slimmer of the Week!”

Members who opt to access the virtual service (at a discounted charge of £2.50 a week).

Speaking at the launch of the virtual service, Slimming World’s chief executive Caryl Richards said: “While we believe nothing rivals the unbeatable magic of a Slimming World group, and though we may be physically apart, we don’t need to be alone. Technology can help us stay together.”
