Permission granted to transform former poultry site into college

PART of the former Phoenix Poultry Farm in Wyberton could be used for training forklift drivers following a successful planning application.

The mealhouse and an area of hardstanding next to it could be used by CoLa Training as offices and training centre for driving, health and safety and life/work skills.

The firm wants to run the college between 8am and 5pm on Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.

The application dealt with at committee consented to the change of use of the former mealhouse.

The application has now been passed by Boston Borough Council the applicants said they are waiting for the purchase of the site to go through before commencing their plans.

The council said: “Planning permission has been granted because the development, subject to conditions, will enable the re-use of vacant rural buildings for employment related uses and will help provide a positive improvement to the visual appearance of the area.”
