Firefighters are tackling a major hay bale blaze in the Spilsby area.

The fire broke out between Keal Cotes and Toynton St Peter at about 4pm today (Saturday).

An eyewitness says they believe hay bales and two barns are on fire.

Fire and Rescue have requested ‘residents of Toynton St Peter keep their windows closed due to fire contaminants’.

Appliances from Spilsby, Boston, Horncastle, Alford, Skegness, Wainfleet, Woodhall Spa and Holbeach were in attendance at the height of the blaze.

This included four main jets, four HR, two LPPS. But this was due to be scaled down to four pumps.

The fire service said the blaze included plastic bales, waste bales and large stack.

EARLIER: Firefighters are currently tackling a blaze between Keal Cotes and Toynton St Peter.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have tweeted to say that at about 4pm six appliances are on the scene.
