Police are searching a Boston river to ‘recover a body’.

Inspector Richard Watt, of Lincolnshire Police, confirmed an underwater search team is looking for the body of a man who was last seen jumping into the River Witham near Town Bridge today (Sunday).

He added it was in relation to a missing person enquiry.

He said: “We are currently taking part in an operation near to where a male was seen to jump into the river at around 6.30am.”

He confirmed it was a ‘body recovery task’.

He said the search was ‘due to finish very shortly’ and was unsure if it would resume again in the morning.

But confirmed at the time of speaking to The Standard a body had not been pulled out of the river.
