Police to fight organised crime five times harder

POLICE are promising to clamp down of criminals in the East Midlands.... five times as hard.

On Monday five police forces – Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire – announced a new collaboration on tackling major and organised crime.

This will make it the largest collaboration of its kind in the country, potentially saving the police forces in excess of £26 million.

The creation of a joint major crime facility will investigate murder, manslaughter, kidnap with demands and extortion across the East Midlands region.

It will also take on other investigations through a central tasking process.
