Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Coningsby after a man grabbed a woman’s hair as she walked her dog.

The incident took place in Masons Lane, a footpath at the rear of The Cobb Shop, at about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said: “A female walking her dog was approached by a man who grabbed her by her hair.

“The man ran off after the woman’s dog began barking.

“The motive of the assault is not clear but the incident is being treated as an attempted robbery.”

The victim was shaken by the incident and suffered grazing to her face.

The offender is described as being of skinny build, aged in his 20s, and wearing jeans and a black hooded top with the hood up.

She spokesman added: “The victim in this case was wearing headphones and did not hear the man approach. When out walking alone, particularly in unlit areas, always be aware of your surroundings and avoid wearing headphones or using a mobile phone to call or text.”
