Education secretary Michael Gove has approved the £1.35 million expansion of Staniland Academy.

The plan will see six new classrooms built along with small group rooms and a studio hall, helping the school to have three classes per year from September 2014.

Executive head Adrian Reed said: “This is tremendous news for it means that our expanded academy will be able to accommodate many more local children at a time when there has been great pressure for primary school places in Boston.”

An extension to the facilities for the youngest pupils will be formally opened at the end of the month at the school, which was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted earlier this year.
