HEALTH services in the town could be getting a checkup by a ministerial visit this month.

A spokesman for Boston MP Mark Simmonds has confirmed he has invited Andrew Lansley MP to visit facilities in his constituency on April 26.

It is hoped the secretary of state will meet with senior managers and clinicians, hospital staff and local GPs to discuss the needs of patients in Lincolnshire.

The spokesman said the itinerary of the visit has yet to be confirmed but it is believed he may visit Pilgrim Hospital’s accident and emergency, intensive care and maternity units

A department of health spokesman said a minister was to visit the town on April 26, but would not confirm who.

It is thought Mr Lansley may not give interviews to the press due to local elections elsewhere.
