A meeting has been promised between Stickney Parish Council and the county authority over the future of the village’s picnic area.
Lincolnshire County Coun Colin Davie was responding to Coun Victoria Ayling, who asked when the facilities would be sorted, whether the council could employ a warden and whether volunteers could take over.
She told the full council meeting that the area was a’valuable amenity’ which ‘people of all ages enjoy’. The toilets were recently damaged by vandals, forcing it to close until repairs can be done. Coun Ayling said: “Not only does the cordoned off area look unattractive in the parkland setting, but this facility is missed. “Summer is nearly upon us and the picnic area will be in demand and I want this resolved positively as soon as possible to keep this facility open.” Coun Davie said: “We are looking at all areas of the council in terms of potential savings.” He said a decision on funding would be made ‘in the next few months’.
