BOSTON and Skegness MP Mark Simmonds has said he is determined the area will be lit up by the Olympic torch as it makes its way down to the stadium.
The torch is heading on a 70-day journey around the country next year in the run-up to London 2012, and will be calling at dozens of destinations around the UK on the way.
Mr Simmonds is now rallying the Olympic torch committee to ensure that Boston and Skegness get a taste of the action.
He said: “I am determined to ensure that people living in Boston and Skegness have an opportunity to engage with the Olympic torch and to succeed in having the torch come through our part of Lincolnshire would be a very positive beginning to the main Olympic event in 2012.”
The torch relay will begin at Land’s End on May 19, and will finish its journey at Westminster at the end of July.
