PLANS to alter the way in which the mayor of Boston is selected are one step closer, after a Boston Borough Council committee voted for the full council to make changes.
The authority’s standards committee met on Tuesday and decided to make recommendations to the full council to revert to the old system of mayoral selection.
If the full council approves the recommendation later in the year it will mean councillors with the longest council service would be next in line for to take on the role.
The current system, in which anyone can stand for the role, has been in place for the past four years.
Changes would come in next May if approved by the council.
