A family lawyer believes she can bring a fresh perspective – and experience – to the Boston and Skegness constituency.

Karen Buckley is a cabinet member with responsibility for finance on Fylde Borough Council near Blackpool.

The 46-year-old married mother-of-two, who would look to relocate to the constituency if elected, has worked closely with Blackpool MP Paul Maynard since 2010 and is now keen to step up and represent constituents for herself.

She believes the issues affecting Blackpool will resonate in Skegness in particular, but said the area will also benefit from a new face.

Karen said: “I believe I have got some good experience to offer, as well as a fresh perspective for the residents of Boston and Skegness.

“Driving through Skegness, on the promenade, was similar to the bright lights of Blackpool.”

Karen added: “I have experience of representing people and fighting their corner from a personal perspective as a family lawyer and as a councillor.”

She backed the need for better infrastructure for the area to help bring secure, all-year-round employment, adding: “I know people in and around Boston have suffered for too long from congestion on the roads.”

She would hope to tackle UKIP by putting forward a positive case to the electorate, telling The Standard: “UKIP are trying to play on people’s fears. We are losing sight of the good things we have done.

“Yes, we must raise the legitimate concerns of people. We must listen and tackle those but we mustn’t risk the very good work the Conservative-led Government has done.

“To go back on that now would not be right for local people.”

She also said tackling extreme weather and securing food production are important issues.
