Taking part in a sponsored run dressed as a chicken shows the dedication of Kim Wood, who is to help young people in poverty in Central America.
The plucky 22-year-0ld from Swineshead has been selected for the National Citizen Service to work with a charity Progressio in El Salvador. There she will join a team helping young people to develop out of poverty. “I am excited to meet new people but also nervous about the exact same thing,” said Kim. “This is a great opportunity for me to both help others and gain experience for myself.
“I am looking forward to learning new skills in a new environment and culture. I’m hoping that I will learn as much from the people I meet as I can teach them.”
Kim has organised some fundraising activities to help to fund the trip. This included the Lincolns Pring Chicken Run on April 28, which she will take part in dressed as a chicken, fundraising activities at Tesco where she works and a bingo night on April 19.
Ahe added: “I am primarily looking for donations but also some prizes for the bingo night and the raffle which will be held there too.”
