Private Eye puts MP in the spotlight

BOSTON MP Mark Simmonds has been under the national spotlight this week after it was reported he is paid £50,000 a year to advise a private health firm.

Private Eye magazine revealed that Mr Simmonds is paid the sum to advice Circle Health.

He has stressed that his involvement with Circle Health is on his official register of interests in parliament and that no rules have been broken.

He added: “It is imperative that MPs have an understanding of the ‘real world’.

“MPs’ outside interests are fully declared.”
